Hi, and welcome to my first blog post!  This website is gonna be SO cool.  But first, here’s a little story on how this all came together.

My journey to build a school with Pencils of Promise started on my Golden Birthday, 6/6/16.  I was in Mrs. Koldenhoven’s Kindergarten class that year and I was so excited to learn how to read.  My mom was reading a book called “The Promise of a Pencil” and told me it was about a man named Adam and his mission to bring education to children around the world through his charity, Pencils of Promise.

What’s PoP all about?  Pencils of Promise works with communities across the globe to build schools and create programs that provide education opportunities for children, no matter where they were born, or what resources they have. PoP has broken ground on over 400 schools throughout Ghana, Guatemala, and Laos. Education is a cause that’s truly important to my whole family, so I’m excited to join the Pencils of Promise movement that empowers lives around the world by increasing access to quality education for children in the developing world.

Now that I’m ten years old, I understand there are over 25 million children my age that will not be learning how to read because they have no schools to go to.  Isn’t that so sad?  I thought so, too.  So here’s what I’m doing about it:

Every year, I ask for donations towards my school build instead of birthday gifts. I want to build a school so that other kids my age can learn to read and write, just like I did.

I know I’m so lucky and blessed and thankful to attend a safe and wonderful school.  My hope is to make it possible for more children feel this way.  So, come on, help me help them!

Donations are accepted everyday, not just my birthday!  Join my tribe and donate today by clicking here.  Thanks for your support!

See ya soon!
