This hasn’t been a normal summer for me, or for anyone. But even though it was different, it still had all the important things a summer should have: sun, fun, and family.
My summers are usually full of activity and adventure. But for Summer 2020 we traded airplane rides and vacations for a bunch of the simple things. I played outside a lot. I read. I became obsessed with the Clue board game. I dominated #LakeLife at my grandparents lake house and fell in love with water skiing. I started cheer practice but we quickly had to stop. I played my guitar. I played basketball in my driveway and went for long scooter rides.
Doing all of these simple things, something cool happened. I got to spend more time with my family. I got more time to think and talk with my mom, and I got to put together this website with her. Because of this down time, I’m moving closer to my goal of building a school with Pencils of Promise!
I’ve learned that sometimes life doesn’t go as planned, but instead of being upset, I’m using my time to work on this important project. What have you been up to this summer? Comment below!
